Nessler is a Dementia Friend Champion through Dementia Friends Minnesota\, an ACT on Alzheimer’s Initiative and has been doing these presentations since 2014. Dementia Friends was developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom as a way to change the way people think\, act\, and talk about dementia. The Dementia Friends Initiative is now underway in Minnesota. The goal of the Dementia Friends Session is to help community members understand dementia and the small things they can do to make a difference for people living with dementia. \n“As a result of the training\, I hold a deeper respect for people who are experiencing dementia. I have a greater understanding of how I can talk and be with those who have dementia\,” said participant Mary Ann Boe.  “Most importantly\, I learned that it is one’s intent and loving presence that is most accessible and stays with a person affected by dementia\, more than the things that are said.” \nCommunity members should register for this event with Christine Nessler at Freedom Home Care at 507.387.4663 or cnessler@freedomhomecarellc.com.
