What Are The Steps When Hiring A Home Care Agency

Oct 10, 2024 | Ask the Expert

My name is Chris Mihm and today we’re going to talk about the steps when hiring a home care agency.

Number one, be proactive.

In a lot of situations, the hardest thing to do is pick up the phone and make that initial phone call. When you do make the phone call, you’re going to get a friendly voice on the other end from Freedom Home Care, and we’re going to guide you through the process of how to get the home care started. By being proactive and not waiting until an emergency happens, it gives home care a much better chance of being successful for your loved one. We have seen many situations where when somebody starts home care early, Your loved one is able to stay at home and live a more productive life much longer. If you’re also considering a facility as an option, one of the things I like to tell people is give home care a chance. Once somebody moves into a facility, the chances of them coming home are very little. Give home care a chance and see if it can be right in your situation.

Number two, schedule a free consultation.

This will give you an opportunity to interview Freedom Home Care and also give us a chance to interview your loved one and make sure that home care is a good fit for them. There’s no cost or obligation, and the entire process takes about one hour.

Number three is the nurse visit.

Once paperwork is signed, we’re going to send our nurse out who’s going to meet with your loved one and do a full assessment. When the assessment is complete, they’re going to go back to the office, put together a plan of care, and the plan of care is going to be a roadmap for the caregivers to provide that quality of care once the services are started.

Number four.

We’re going to look at our caregivers and see who’s going to be a great fit for your loved one.

Number five, one of our experienced caregivers will start your case.

After our caregivers have started care, our nurse will come out and do a reassessment within the first two weeks, making sure that the plan of care is suitable for your loved one. And we do ongoing monitoring on a consistent basis moving forward.
